Grace poured out upon those who believe and trust in the shed blood of Jesus, operates through or by Love. The judgement or condemnation of self nullifies the unearned favor of Love! Love freely gives and cannot be earned. Favor and love handed out is Holy and is not dependent on self effort, if it could, it would lose heaven’s value and sacredness and anyone could boast about the work it took to earn it. True Love is indeed Holy. God is love. God’s love is unearned, but it must be received individually.
When believers (those who reject Christ, are already or continue to be guilty and under God’s wrath) live in guilt and shame, we are pushing away Christ’s love. Refusing love at its roots is unbelief. All sin is derived from unbelief in a God of love. The world’s sin is unbelief. (John 16:9) Jesus said, “Judge not, and you shall not be judged” (Luke 6:37) Apostle Paul said, “I do not even judge myself!” (1 Co 4:3) When we start judging ourselves in a condemning way, we also fall into the habit of judging others. Judgement kills grace! It very unequivocally cancels out love. Love builds, condemnation tears down! When anyone pushes away love, we are holding God’s love at a distance. Humility allows love. Grace abounds in an atmosphere of freely given and freely received love.
When a person is unapproachable it shows a heart that is shut down. Children are known for their ability to receive love from anyone. Unless we have hearts as open and non-judgmental as little children, we can not even begin to see the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven is the kingdom of love! Because of the world’s unbelief, and open rebellion towards God’s love and grace, many people are forfeiting love. The world’s little love is waxing cold! By contrast an approachable heart is a child-like humble heart that allows love to be given, as well as received.
Out of the many people that followed Jesus, only a few allowed close intimate friendship with Him. Love has a price! It will sacrifice when needed and welcomes openness. It can only flow freely from a heart that is pure and non-judgmental. Love is quick to forgive and desires to quickly mend the breech. Love hardly even notices when wrong is done to it. Love is not easily offended. Love is the very foundation of life! “Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matt 10:8)
So brothers, sisters, let us be done with wrongful self-judgement and condemnation, for such evaluation only brings death to grace and love. Whatsoever is pure and lovely, think on these things! (Phil. 4:8)
