As my husband and I were resting, with Our Lord this morning, which is so wonderful, he got a picture. He articulated as best he could, this spiritual picture.
“I see a big idol—it’s very tall. In fact, it towers above all the other idols. To all appearances, it’s the most beautiful idol that anyone can see. It’s pull and allure is very strong. It’s hard to keep ones eyes off of it, because it seems and it looks so good. Over the idol is a huge waving banner. Written on the banner, in all caps, are these words:
MINISTRY
(This banner could also be titled, “SELF”)
The closer you get to this idol, the larger it becomes in one’s field of view, and this figure is so huge and alluring, it blocks the view.
In my spirit, it is so strong that this idol, the work or ministry that (one) does for God, becomes so huge, it blocks the view of God Himself.
It isn’t that what they want is bad—they are trying to come into their “calling”, their ministry, however, their ministry has come to the forefront so much, many times because of the allure of people seeing, seeking, and listening to them, that it blocks the view and limits their ability to see God.
Also, there are so many demands from the public, the followers, because these “ministers” (teachers, prophets) have made disciples unto themselves and these “followers“ demand a fresh word. They have fallen into wanting a king—and they want that visible king to feed them everyday now, because they have become addicted to, dependent upon today’s milk. And, as so often happens, those that started out in obedience with a pure heart have now fallen into the trap of having to deliver the “word” in order to keep their followers from unfollowing them. So many that have been on YouTube and other social media platforms, that have been warning over and over again, are only regurgitating yesterday’s manna and feeding it back to the people today. This is a snare that never got a foothold in Jesus!
Jesus never gave Himself over to the people…I only say and do as My Father in heaven speaks…and He is not the chatty Kathy or John or whoever, that everyone has made Him out to be—Jesus DID NOT repeat Himself over and over again on the same subject.
His life was both an invitation and a warning from The Most High that the world is in it’s last days. He was inviting people to come to The Father and saying, “repent.” His death and resurrection was the exclamation point.—He is the Final Word.
Isn’t the “Christian” experience NOT to be about ministry, but relationship, relationship with The Most High, His Son Jesus, and Their Spirit. Are we not called to point the way to Him? We aren’t to be the one others see or feed off of, and if we find ourselves in the position where regularly others are coming to us for “their daily bread”, that is one sure sign that our idol has become so large, it has blocked their view of Him.
Blessed is the man who listens to ME, says the Lord. Watching daily at MY gates, Waiting at MY doorposts.
“For he who finds ME finds life
And obtains favor from the LORD. Proverbs 8:34
A word fitly (aptly) spoken and in due season is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Proverbs 25:11
